Can you change something and still keep its original intention and worth? #isitbad #isitgood

This might go against my case, but radically changing the appearance of something (compared to the original) is not as accepted in the practice of restorers, as simple conservation.

This is what my teachers say, but practice and theory differ.

I was asked to remove the frame and place the graphic print into another newer frame, I refused and kept the old, but changed its appearance.

Aka I just removed the frame color. I would argue it was ugly, but I am an educated person, so I will say it was unsightly.

The cleaning was a fairly simple process of removing the acrylic based color tin from the frame wood.

After the prolonged cleaning of the color I sanded the wood frame. And with that the intervention was over.

You may be the judge of the results.

I had not expected for it to turn out this way, it was tricky situation, tho I'm glad the client liked it. #reworking #couldsayits #unethicalbutgottoearnaliving #frame #artwork #graphicprint
